Flooded Wet Car Cleaning and Restoration in San Antonio TX  Can a car that has been under water be saved and cleaned?  Can the upholstery and carpet that is not only been under submerged in mud be cleaned?      The answer is YES.  If you own a car that has had some water on the inside, I might be able to be restored. On September 7th 1988 a storm stalled over San Antonio Taylor Texas and dumped over 23" of rain and then in September 1998 San Antonio and south Texas receive over 13" inches of rain.  In each of these instances the local rivers rose over 50 ft allowing unwanted water into may homes and cars.   FEMA was telling everybody to throw the furniture away and most people did.  So what about your valuable car? Steam Brite on the other hand, was asked to restore cars and trucks that had unwanted water on the inside.  We noticed there where two different category levels of damage.  Customers that only had wet carpet, and customers that had cars under water in mud, seats and all. We saved 100% of every car carpet and car seats that where dropped off at our location! How is this possible?   For those cars that only had wet carpet, we cleaned and sanitized the carpet as normal but included taking warm dehumidified air and pumping into the car for a few days.  These cars where test for moisture removal with moisture detection equipment. On the other had for cars that ended up under water, in mud, we first had our customer sign a waiver that not guarantee could be made on the results for what we where about to do had never been done before.  We removed the seats and carpet from the cars.  We took a 350,000 BTU, 250 degree F live steam generator and applied 2 gallons a minute at 1000 psi of high pressure live steam on each seat, and carpeting for an hour!  This means that over 100 gallons of steam was processed through each piece.  I can assure you that there is no level of bacteria that can survive that!  This steam was sent through and around every crack, crevice, foam, spring,... It is very odd to see this.  It looks like we are destroying the seats because it is not a delicate service.  Once we where done with the steam soaking, we sucked the water out of the fabric and foam.  Each piece was placed in an environment where 100 degree F air at 5% RH (relative humidity) air blown over it for 3 days.  Each piece is inspected daily for touch up during the drying process.   We found out that it does not matter if you have so much mud on the seats and carpet.  Even if you cannot see the color of it.  This service removes everything.  We performed this service to dry clean only home furniture too. Only fabrics with rayon in them showed a small amount of buckling along the welting.   While not all furniture is worth this service you might own a piece you do not want to just toss in the trash.  Even though we are shooting for 100% recovery, it is still a not guaranteed service.  If you decide to do this, you will have to pay for the procedure and not the results.   What does this cost? Carpet cleaning, sanitizing and dehumidification for $250 OR To remove the seats, and carpet, clean and sanitize, dry and re-install, prices start $750 for cars This is a fraction of what is cost to replace all these items.    We do not have pick up and delivery so you will have to arraign this on your own. If you want us to come to you, this is possible for a $35 service call per trip (Listed above as Estimated Shipping Cost).  You have to have a way to dehumidification equipment running and piped into the car.  So far to date only one customer wanted this done.  You have to have a site that is secure enough to allow the dehumidifier to stay plugged in and not get stolen.  Like a large garage.
