Question: Do you have to hook it to the sink to use this heater? Answer: NO, for some reason the video was a mistake. The video was just for testing the design. Just because you can hook it to the sink does nots not mean you are supposed to hook to the sink. Most carpet cleaners would hook the machine to the carpet cleaning machine high pressure outbound water connection and not the sink. The sink was only used for simulation and testing. All in-line carpet cleaning heaters are used the same way. You take your 6 ft solution hose (included with heater) and snap it into the outbound QD on the face of the extractor and feed the water pressure into the male QD on the Volcano 2000 heater. Your solution hose that travels to your wand is snapped into the female QD on the heater that has insulation on it. The over pressurization safety hose is snapped into the safety valve on one side and the open side is laid in the fresh water tank of the portable carpet cleaning machine or the sink. Question: Will the heater break if I run it dry? Answer: No, the heating rods are not in the water, rather they are heating the housing. You cannot hurt the heater by running it dry. Please note this is NOT true with our EDIC heaters. EDIC Heat N Run heaters must be primed with water pressure before you turn them on! Question: What happens if I let it freeze? Answer: I expect you will break it. Water expanse 8% in all directions when it freezes so I am sure the housing of the heater core will break. The housing are tested to 1500 psi but pressure in ice is way over 10,000 psi. Question: What is the average expected temperature rise while cleaning carpet? Answer: 25 degree F for carpet cleaning and 50 degrees F for Upholstery cleaning. Naturally the size of jets you use and the amount of squeeze / cleaning stroke time VS dry stroke time will ultimately dictate the temperature rise. Question: What will happen if I plug into a 15 amp outlet instead of a 20 amp outlet? Answer: More than likely you will be able to use the heater for an hour or two and then expect the breaker to trip. Once it trips you will have to reset the breaker but do not continue to use the same outlet. Please relocate to a new breaker. It is not good to keep tripping the same breaker over and over again! You also might have to just continue to finish the job with the building supplied hot water. Question: Am I going to get an owners manual with my heater? Answer: No, we expect that you have read this web page as it will have the most current information about this water heater. Question: Since this heater has been tested to 1500 psi, can I used with my tile cleaning system at 1200 psi? Answer: No, please do not use over 600 psi. We want a 2 to 1 service factor ratio with this heater. Please note that with tile cleaning the water is traveling through the heater at such high pace, we expect the temperature rise to only be at about 7 degrees. Not worth the risk of breaking your heater. Question: Am I going to get an owners manual with my heater? Question: Can I use with a Rotovac 360, Mytee TRex, Hoss 700 or similar high flow extraction wand? Answer: Yes, but please note that these tools use almost 4 time the amount a water that a traditional 2 jet carpet cleaning wand uses per hour. This means that you can expect the temperature rise to be only 7 degrees F.

DO NOT RUN FLAMMABLE SOLVENTS THROUGH THE HEATER. DO NOT OPERATE HEATER IF IT IS LEAKING WATER INTERNALLY OF EXTERNALLY. DO NOT PLUG UNIT IN IF IT IS WET FOR ANY REASON. DO NOT USE HEATER IF ANY OF THE ELECTRICAL OR PLUMBING CONNECTIONS ARE LOOSE. ALWAYS SUPPORT THE BACK OF THE BRASS QD ASSEMBLY WITH YOUR OTHER HAND WHEN CONNECTING HOSES TO THE UNIT. ALWAYS USE CAUTION AND COMMON SENSE WHEN HANDLING METAL HOSE ENDS AND FITTINGS ON THE HOT OR DISCHARGE SIDE OF THE HEATER. THESE METAL FITTINGS CAN BE HOT ENOUGH TO CAUSE SERIOUS DISCOMFORT AND BURNS.
