People are getting nervous about the Coronavirus epidemic as is almost doubles in numbers every day!
This nervousness leads to thoughts about what precautions we can take to reduce the probability of transmission and what disinfectants may be effective. 

Beware of product manufacturers' untested claims to their products' assumed effectiveness against the Coronavirus virus. True testing requires the acquisition of the virus which currently represents a problem for several reasons. In fact, some manufacturers are misleading you into believing that by using their product you are safe. Here's the official word from the Centers for Disease Control website:

There are no disinfection products with specific label claims against the Coronavirus virus. Enveloped viruses such as Coronavirus, Ebola, etc are susceptible to a broad range of hospital disinfectants used to disinfect hard, non-porous surfaces. In contrast, non-enveloped viruses are more resistant to disinfectants. As an added precaution, use a disinfectant with a higher potency than what is normally required for an enveloped virus to disinfect potentially Ebola-contaminated surfaces. EPA-registered hospital disinfectants with label claims against non-enveloped viruses (e.g., norovirus, rotavirus, adenovirus, poliovirus) are broadly antiviral and capable of inactivating both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses."

Super concentrated Chemspec Microban Mediclean QGC Germicidal Cleaner Concentrate MINT 1 Gallon Prorestore 221592905-1  Apply > 20 minute dwell time > wipe off Many of you are fielding questions from customers about what we have that cleans and disinfects high-touch surfaces as Coronavirus concerns and cases in the US grow. While this new strain of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has not been tested against any disinfectants as of the time of this statement, Mediclean Germicidal Cleaner Concentrate has been shown effective against similar classes of viruses - the Human Coronavirus, Adenovirus, and the SARS Associated Coronavirus. It is an EPA registered (no. 70385-6) hospital-grade, disinfectant cleaner concentrate for use on many different types of surfaces per its label.

Step 3 > Clean all soft surfaces:
Soft surface type cleaning (carpet, upholstery, mattress, drapes, etc)

Sporicidin Disinfectant 1 Gallon - RE-1284F - 861350 - UPC 100797256030058  Phenol 1.56% Sodium Phenate .06% Phenol was used by Microban for years in their now discontinued Carpet Cleaning Sanitizer (10% phenol solution)  The original MicroBan EPA approved product cost over $200 a gallon so nobody hardly ever purchased it.  This lead to Microban (RPM Industries) discontinuing that product.  The Sporicidin is the closest we know of to that formula.  The Microban version was the only EPA registered for fabric and soft surface disinfection.  The Sporicidin is not EPA registered for fabric and soft surface disinfection but this is the current closest formula to the previously only product in the USA that was approved.  This EPA Virucide could either be placed in a vapor steamer with vacuum machine or pre-sprayed on the fabric and then you use the machine below or a similar unit to rinse off the disinfectant.

You would have to run the above Sporicidin in and through a fabric cleaning machine like the one below

Prespray Sporicidin straight up without dilution on the fabric and rinse it off.  OR  Prespray the Sporicidin on the fabric, add some Sporicidin to the rinse water, and then vapor rinse and vacuum it off. Apply the steam/vapor with vacuum while using the tools over the fabric.  This machine applies the steam and suck up the contamination.  Clean and sanitize with 300 degree F vapor. Note in order to maintain an aggressive amount of steam/vapor a 120 volt, standard 1700 watt vapor unit will not suffice. This unit is a 3000 watt boiler.  This allows you to be able to have constant operator cleaning without waiting for the machine to reheat. Plugs into 2 standard 120 volt breakers with optional power supply. Please note most vapor machine are only 1700 watts and this causes a lot of complaints because of poor performance.  Not with this 3000 watt unit! Please note one of the most common complaints we field at our office is a customer purchases a 1700 watt vapor unit and then wants to return it for poor performance.  Vapor machines are non returnable. Sorry no free rental here...  1700 watt vapor steams are performing per their specifications.  It is not that they are not performing well rather it is our customer not understanding how much steam and vapor a single power corded machine can product.  You have to put more energy and power in the water to make it perform better. Microban Mediclean BotaniClean is a one-step cleaner and hospital-grade disinfectant that kills rotavirus as well as  many others. 

Microban Mediclean Gemicidal Cleaner Concentrate (GCC) is known to be effective against harder-to-kill non-enveloped viruses, such as norovirus, rotavirus and adenovirus. GCC is a hospital grade, disinfectant, detergent concentrate. 

It is always a good practice to use a general purpose cleaner to remove the majority of the body fluid spills. In some cases, sadly, the patient experiences extreme vomiting, diarrhea, and bleeding so large amounts of fluids have to be removed.  Stain Magic (dried blood treatment) followed by Kryptonium cleaning are extremely effective at blood removal. Once the surface is visibly clean, then disinfection with Microban Mediclean is the final step.

Beyond disinfectant use, should an Coronavirus decontamination become necessary, get expert help and absolutely use extreme precautions and full PPE. The scope of these precautions is beyond the intent of this information.

Please note the use of this product on some porous surface types requires pre-qualifying adverse side affects such as voiding warranties on some brands of carpet under five years of age and color bleeding.  This product contains a cationic surfactants that will strip off any acid dye resistor that is making the carpet stain and soil resistant.
	Sporicidin Disinfectant 1 Gallon - RE-1284F - 861350 - UPC 100797256030058  Step three treatment Phenol 1.56% Sodium Phenate .06% Phenols are widely used in household products and as intermediates for industrial synthesis. For example, phenol itself is used (in low concentrations) as a disinfectant in household cleaners and in mouthwash. Phenol may have been the first surgical antiseptic! Clean all porous and soft wet cleanable surfaces like carpet, upholstery, drapes,... Because contamination can be harder to remove on porous surfaces, all three of the above products would be used at different times.  The chemical formulas of all three of the above products are different and should NOT be mixed together in one sprayer and not applied together.  Apply all three steps back to back.  This offers the current best correction for Ebola and many other viruses as a disinfection treatment.   Please read the label and follow the printed directions!

Use Instructions

Apply with a compression sprayer (Poly Sprayer), foam generator, pressure washer or an airless paint sprayer. 

Application:  Use two ounces per gallon for general cleaning and disinfection. To sanitize nonporous surfaces, use a mixture of 0.5 ounces per gallon.
