With the standard pre-filter, DOP Stage 2 pre-filter and the HEPA primary filter installed, the HEPA 500 passes laboratory DOP testing conducted per ANSI standards, achieving an efficiency rating of 99.97% against oily aerosol particles down to 0.3 microns.

Install the DOP filter between the standard pre-filter and the HEPA primary filter.

For highly effective odor removal, use the Activated Carbon Filter together with the DOP filter. Simply replace the paper pre-filter with the carbon filter.

The DOP test introduces an dense cloud of extremely fine particulates into the filter under controlled conditions. NOTICE: Because transport may cause damage to units or filters, job site testing should be conducted to confirm an individual unit's compliance with DOP testing standards for HEPA efficiency appropriate to specific job settings.
Installing the DOP filter
WARNING CONTAMINATION HAZARD. Always wear an appropriate NIOSH-approved respirator and personal protective equipment when removing or replacing filters, or when cleaning the DefendAir HEPA 500.
For best results, install the DOP filter between the pre-filter and the HEPA primary filter. This will help to extend the life of the DOP filter and the HEPA filter.
To install the DOP filter,
1.
Loosen the inlet four panel latches.
2.
Remove the inlet panel.
3.
Remove the pre-filter (if installed).
4.
Insert the DOP filter.
5.
Replace the pre-filter on top of the DOP filter.
6.
Replace the inlet panel and re-fasten the four latches

Maintenance
When using the DefendAir HEPA 500 for general air filtration
After every job

Inspect pre-filter before each use. Look for accumulated dust and dirt that could restrict airflow through the filter into the unit. If any is visible, change out the pre-filter. If dirt is visible on the DOP filter, change it as well.

Replace the HEPA filter when the Change Indicator Light comes on.
When using the DefendAir HEPA 500 for remediation, i.e., in the presence of potentially harmful particulates:
After every job

Replace all three filters to prevent cross-contamination.

Clean the unit thoroughly (vacuum and damp wipe per IICRC S520, 10.11) after each job before removing it from the containment area to avoid cross-contamination.
